Rain Gardens/Storm Water Diversion
Divert rainwater and directly water your landscape
How it Works
A rain garden is a shallow depression that is planted with native plants and grasses, ideally replacing an existing lawn. The native plants at the bottom of the depressions will be more water loving and those at the top. Rainwater from your roof will be collected in your existing gutter system and then diverted to these depressions throughout the rain garden. These depressions will be filled during the winter months to water the native plants in your rain garden.
Benefits to Rain Gardens
We take a permaculture approach to reshaping your landscape that follows the mantra: SLOW, SINK & SPREAD.
These designs are meant to be maintenance-free replacements of resource intensive lawns.
When the native plants grow, mature and go through their life cycles you will see more bees, insects and birds enjoying what you have provided.
Most downspouts on a typical home simply drain the storm water close to the home which could compromise the foundation. These systems reduce this risk and put this water to use on your property.
Many counties and cities in the Bay Area are providing ‘Lawn Be Gone’ rebates to residents who plant native gardens and other greywater systems. Check below to see if your city or county has a rebate. If you do not see your city or county listed, contact us and we can help you research rebate programs in your area.
