This map comes out weekly and shows how the state is faring with regard to water resources. Check updates here!
The northern part of the state is looking the driest considering that it has only received approximately 50% of normal rainfall this year. This is a problem brewing because the largest reservoir in the state is up there (Shasta Lake). Shasta Lake is the linchpin of the federally controlled Central Valley Project that provides irrigation water to the Central Valley farms. This has little to do with Bay Area water resources, but is fun to know about.
